The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to announce that the college's Office of Distance Education has again been recognized for its excellent work in faculty development. The Online Learning Consortium awarded the 2015 Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching to Kennesaw State University, stating that KSU’s online teacher certification offers "faculty multiple pathways to certification". The online teacher certification is offered through multiple units at KSU: through centralized units such as the Distance Learning Center and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and through colleges, such as Bagwell College of Education's "Online Course Development Workshop," the College of Humanities and Social Sciences' "Build a Web Course Workshop," and the College of the Arts' "COTA Boot Camp." CHSS ODE had previously won the award in 2010 for the "Build a Web Course Workshop."
Bagwell College of Education Associate Professor of Instructional Technology Dr. Julie Moore and College of Humanities and Social Sciences Director of the Office of Distance Education Dr. Tamara Powell accepted the award at the 21st Annual Online Learning Consortium International Conference in Orlando, Florida on October 15th.
