Pablo Valenzuela will present the lecture Chile in Revolution and Resistance for the Brown Bag Lecture Series

April 27, 2017 ( 12:30PM - 1:45PM )

Pablo Valenzuela will talk on "Chile in Revolution and Resistance: The Great Speckled Bird and Solidarity with Chile from Allende to Pinochet." His paper explores the changing nature of reporting on Chile done by The Great Speckled Bird, Atlanta's underground newspaper of the 60s and 70s. Pablo shows how the counterculture weekly went from applauding Allende's socialist experiment to supporting the victims of Pinochet's repression.  This is part of his PhD dissertation project, which looks at the role of revolutionary Chile in the "global" antiwar movement of the Vietnam era.

Pablo Valenzuela is a limited-term instructor of History for the Department teaching courses in United States History. He completed his undergraduate studies here at Kennesaw State University from 2001-2004 and completed his Master's Degree at Georgia State University...more
